E. Main Street Improvements – Job 1805

The project involves a bituminous mill and overlay of the existing roadway. A shared user trail will be installed along the south side of the road for the entire project length and will tie into the proposed trail that MnDOT will be installing as part of their project on TH-65. Also included are stormwater improvements including construction of a stormwater retention pond, storm sewer installation, and drainage improvements.

209th Street Bituminous Paving – Job 2103

The project involves installation of a new bituminous surface along 209th Street and a bituminous mill and overlay along Happy Trails Lane from E. Main to the south end.

October 28, 2022 – This week Ulland Bros placed the overlay on Happy Trail Lane and installed the new bituminous surface on 209th Street. They are currently working on shouldering and restoration which should be completed by the end of the day. All work will the be completed except for some cleanup and minor punch list items.

Pillsbury Avenue & Freeborn Avenue Reconstruction – Job 2201

The project involves a complete reconstruction of portions of Pillsbury Avenue and Freeborn Avenue. The work will include complete removal and replacement of the pavement, curb & gutter, sidewalk, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain. The existing concrete and bituminous pavements will be removed and replaced with a bituminous surface. The streets are:

Pillsbury Avenue – Johnson Street to Sheridan Street
Freeborn Avenue – Ramsey Street to Sheridan Street

Emerald Ash Borer Management Plan (EABMP) – Job 2204

In July of 2021 the Minnesota Department of Agriculture informed the City about an emerald ash borer (EAB) infestation confirmed within Freeborn County. The City applied for and received a $100,000 Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Grant to implement an Emerald Ash Borer Management Plan (EABMP). The plan involves removing and replanting the ash trees over a period of years.

Albert Lea Municipal Airport Runway Crack Sealing – Job 2205

This is for cracking sealing the runway at the Albert Lea Municipal Airport. Work involves route, clean, & seal bituminous cracks and bituminous mill & fill of the pavement. Federal, State and City funds will fund this project (90% Federal, 5% State and 5% City).

Washington Ave & Main St. Parking Lot Reconstruction – Job 2207

The project will involve the removal of the existing bituminous pavement, replacement of the existing aggregate base, and paving of the new bituminous surface. New sign posts and signage will also take place where warranted.
