2023 State Aid Street Overlay Project Updates – Job 2302

September 14, 2023 – All the paint striping was completed this week. All work is now complete except for minor punch list items.

September 8, 2023 – The striping subcontractor plans to come in early next week to do the parking stall and crosswalk markings. Centerline and turn lane striping is tentatively scheduled for the following week.

August 31, 2023 – The new overlay was placed on Monday of this week. The striping subcontractor is tentatively scheduled to begin late next week with all the pavement markings (centerline stripes, crosswalk markings, parking stalls, etc.). The only other work remaining is sod placement along the new sidewalk, minor cleanup, and punch list items.starting early next week.

August 25, 2023 – The only work that occurred this week was adjustments to manholes and water valve covers and some cleaning and prep work. The contractor plans to place the overlay on all streets starting early next week.

August 18, 2023 – The milling was completed this week. The contractor plans to spend most of next week adjusting manhole and water valve covers to the finished road level and other prep work. They plan to place the new overlay the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 1.

August 15, 2023 – Street work will begin this week in the downtown area. The process will start with Ulland Brothers milling the top two inches off the streets on Thursday and Friday. Next week, they will adjust the manhole and water valve covers to the finished road level. While the work is being done, streets will be closed, and on-street parking will be limited. Once the milling process is complete, on-street parking will be reopened. This schedule is dependent upon the weather and is subject to change.

Streets affected include:

Clark Street from St. Mary Avenue to East Main Street
Washington Avenue from West Main Street to Fountain Street
Newton Avenue from East Main Street to Clark Street
Bridge Avenue from Clark Street to Fountain Street

August 11, 2023 – The contractor still expects the overlay work to occur either the last week of August or in early September.

August 4, 2023 – The contractor still does not have a definite start date for milling and overlaying downtown. Their very tentative schedule is to start this work at the end of August.

July 20, 2023 – The concrete work was completed this week. The contractor anticipates the mill & overlay work to take place mid to late August.

July 14, 2023 – The concrete subcontractor has started installing the new sidewalk on Clark Street and the various sidewalk and curb repairs throughout the project. This work will be completed this week. They still do not have a start date for the mill & overlay work, but they hope to have that completed before school starts.

July 7, 2023 – This week the contractor began grading for the new sidewalk along Clark Street between Bridge Ave and E. Main St. The contractor is having a difficult time finding a window when the milling and paving crews are available that doesn’t conflict with any downtown events. There may be such an opportunity between the next Wind Down Wednesday (July 12) and Crazy Days (July 20-22). If their crew availability lines up and the weather forecast looks favorable, they will get in quickly and get the work done. Notices will go out to the businesses if this is the case. Otherwise, work will likely not take place until sometime in August.

June 29, 2023 – Next week the contractor, Ulland Brothers, plans to begin grading work for the new sidewalk along Clark Street between Bridge Ave and E. Main Street. They hope to begin the concrete work the following week.
