Hal is a Rottweiler/Husky mix belonging to one of our detectives. He was adopted from the Freeborn County Humane Society and has overcome a rough start. Hal has two different colored eyes, a condition called heterochromia. He is a very intelligent dog and has a great personality... but loves to roll in whatever smells the worst. Hal would like to remind you that dogs and cats over 6 months old living within the city limits need to be licensed with the City. #petsofthealpd ... See MoreSee Less

Turtle (actually a cat) was found under one of our detective's personal vehicles one cold day. A faint kitten "mew!" was heard and low and behold Turtle was found on top of the transmission. It isn't known if momma left him there or if he took a ride. No matter how Turtle got there, he has found his forever home. Turtle reminds everyone that single family residences in the City of Albert Lea are limited by City Code to 2 cats and 2 dogs. #PetsoftheALPD ... See MoreSee Less

Over the last week, five of our newest full-time firefighters completed a 40-hour confined space rescue technician training through the IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters). We were fortunate to host the class at our station and in our community. The course prepares technicians for high-risk, technical rescues in hazardous environments and encompasses many areas of knowledge. Seven other fire departments were able to participate in the training with us - Cloquet Area, Mason City, Faribault, Winona, Minnetonka, St. Paul and Austin. ... See MoreSee Less
