E. Main Street Improvements Updates – Job 1805
September 30, 2022 -Work this week consisted mostly of storm sewer and concrete curb & gutter work between Garfield Ave and Prospect Ave. This work will continue next week. They may also begin grading for the new shared use trail between St Peter Ave and the east end of the project.
September 23, 2022 – No work took place this week. Next week the contractor plans to complete the aggregate base installation for the trail west of 777th Avenue, and to begin placing the new pedestrian ramps at most of the intersection areas.
September 16, 2022 – No work took place this week. The storm sewer work is scheduled to resume next week. The closure of E Main Street and the detour of traffic will likely not happen now until the week of September 26th.
September 9, 2022 – The private utility conflicts that were holding up progress have been resolved and the storm sewer work has resumed. This week the contractor will begin boring the new storm sewer line underneath 777th Avenue. Work next week is expected to include new storm sewer installation in the north ditch between 777th Avenue and CSAH 38 and begin installation of the pedestrian ramps for the shared user trail.
The planned road closure between 777th Avenue and CSAH 38 has been rescheduled (tentatively) until September 19th and is still expected to last a week. The detour will be to use Blake Avenue, SE Marshall Street, and CSAH 38.
September 1, 2022 – Work completed or in progress this week includes milling both inside and outside lanes, and placing the first of two lift of bituminous overlay. The storm sewer work is tentatively scheduled to resume next week. They have tentatively scheduled closure of E Main Street between 777th Avenue and CSAH 38 beginning Friday, September 9th. During this closure, traffic will be detoured similar to the earlier route via CSAH 38, SE Marshall St, and Blake Avenue. The closure is expected to last one week.
August 19, 2022 – No work took place this week. The contractor plans to begin placing the aggregate base for the trail next week.
August 12, 2022 – The only work that occurred this week was some ditch grading and grass seeding in the ditch areas. Most of the remaining work is somewhat on hold until the storm sewer crew returns to complete the drainage improvements. The contractor does not have a firm schedule for when this will happen.
August 5, 2022 – The only work that took place this week was grading for the shared user trail between Prospect Avenue and Blake Avenue. The storm sewer work has been on hold until Centurylink could move a fiber optic line that was in conflict with the storm sewer improvements. The fiber optic line was relocated this week, so the contractor plans to resume storm sewer work next week. They will be working primarily near the intersection with 777th Avenue and to the east in the north ditch area.
July 22, 2022 – The only work to take place this week was some of the electrical work on the traffic signals at Blake Avenue that will be required for the addition of the pedestrian crossing signals and pushbuttons. This work will continue next week along with more grading work for the trail near the I-35 ramps.
July 15, 2022 – This week the intersection at Blake Avenue was patched and reopened to traffic. Grading work also continued east of Blake Avenue for the new trail.
July 8, 2022 – This week the storm sewer work in the Blake Avenue intersection was completed. The intersection will be patched and reopened to traffic early next week. They also continued grading for the new shared user trail on the east side of I-35.
June 30, 2022 – Work this week included storm sewer work at the intersection of Blake Avenue and near the I-35 on/off ramps. They also continued grading work for the trail and stormwater pond area near Trails Travel Center. The grading work will continue next week along with patching the Blake Avenue intersection and reopening it to traffic.
June 24, 2022 – This week the contractor continued with the storm sewer improvements. They worked primarily in the Blake Avenue intersection and the ditch area on the north side of the road near Love’s Truck Stop.
June 17, 2022 – Work this week included completion of the storm sewer work near the intersection with CSAH 38. Ulland Bros. will be completing the street patch tomorrow, and traffic will be returned to normal over the weekend.
The utility subcontractor plans to begin the storm sewer work at the Blake Avenue intersection on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. When this begins another detour will be set up directing traffic to use CSAH 38 and SE Marshall St to access Home Depot (essentially the reverse of the detour currently in place.
They also plan to begin grading for the trail between Blake Avenue and I-35 next week.
June 10, 2022 – Work this week mostly consisted of storm sewer work near the intersection with CSAH 38. The new storm sewer crossing CSAH 38 has been installed and the contractor will be working on grading for and installing the roadway patch. They hope to be able to reopen CSAH 38 by Wednesday of next week.
Other work expected for next week includes storm sewer work at the intersection of Blake Avenue and start ditch grading in preparation for the trail between Blake Avenue and I-35.
June 3, 2022 – This week the utility subcontractor continued storm sewer work in the south ditch between 777th Ave and CSAH 38. Next week they plan to work on the small amount of new storm sewer going in along CSAH 38.
May 27, 2022 – The contractor continued storm sewer improvements east of I-35 this week and will continue this next week. They also plan to begin grading work for the new shared user trail next week starting at the west end of the project near TH-65.
May 20, 2022 – The contractor began installing the storm sewer improvements this week. They have installed new pipe along the south side of the road from 775th Avenue to 777th Avenue.
May 13, 2022 – Start of work was pushed back until next week. The contractor will begin next week with the storm sewer and drainage improvements between I-35 and CSAH 38. A number of the private utility companies were onsite this week relocating their facilities.
May 6, 2022 – Work will begin next week with storm sewer improvements between 777th Avenue and CSAH 38. Some of the private utilities have begun relocating their facilities that will be in conflict with the new storm sewer or pedestrian trail.
