Blazing Star Trail Rehabilitation Project Updates – Job 2053

Noveber 4, 2021: This week the contractor installed the pedestrian ramp at the east end of the project and completed the paint striping. The only work remaining is minor punch list items.

October 28, 2021: This week the contractor completed the sideslope grading and grass seeding. Next week the contractor will install the concrete pedestrian ramp where the trail intersects the State Park Road and complete the paint striping. The only work remaining after that will be minor punch list items.

October 14, 2021: This week the contractor completed final grading of the aggregate base, the trail should be repaved by the end of the week. Next week they will regrade the sideslopes and install the shouldering.

October 7, 2021: The contractor plans to return tomorrow to continue grading the trailbase to achieve slopes of less than 5% in order to meet ADA standards. They plan to repave the trail next week.

October 1, 2021: The only work to take place this week was minor grading around the new culvert. Next week they plan to regrade and recompact the aggregate base and repave the trail.

September 24, 2021: The contractor started work this week on installation of a culvert near 197th Street & I35 corridor, and pealing back of the top soil along the shoulders of the trail. The trail will be milled up along the 1 mile segment starting Friday, Sept 24th. This process involves grinding the existing pavement and regrading it for use as the new aggregate base. Following milling the contractor will repave a new 2.5” asphalt trail surface.

September 17, 2021: The contractor, Ulland Brothers, plans to start work Monday, September 20th with the installation of a culvert near 197th Street & I35 corridor followed with reclamation of the 1 mile segment of existing pavement on Wednesday. This process involves grinding the existing pavement and regrading it to for use as the new aggregate base followed by paving the new 2.5” asphalt trail surface on top.
