May 26, 2017 – A pre-construction meeting was held last week. Tentatively, the contractor plans to begin moving in equipment and supplies the week of June 5th and begin work the following week.
June 5, 2017 – No work on the City’s contract took place this week. The gas company began this week to relocate their gas main along the corridor so they will not be in conflict with the reconfigured Sunset Street. The contractor, Quam Construction, plans to begin work the week of June 12th.
June 9, 2017 – The contractor has pushed the starting date of the project back a week to June 19th. The contractor will start work on the west end of the project from TH13 to Luther Place.
June 16, 2017 – The contractor has not started any work. This week the gas and phone companies continued work to relocate their facilities in the project area. The contractor is still set to begin removing the curb & gutter and pavement on the first phase next week. The first phase will be from TH13 to Luther Place.
June 20, 2017 – The contractor has installed temporary mailboxes at the intersection of Luther Place & Sunset Street. Residents on the west end of the project (from TH 13 to Luther Place) will have their mail delivered to the temporary mailboxes starting on Tuesday, June 20th as their existing mailboxes will be salvaged by the contractor. Mail service to the apartments and the east end of the project (Luther Place to Lakeview Blvd.) will not be affected at this time.
June 23, 2017 – The gas company completed their work to move their facilities in the project area. The City’s contractor set up the detour and traffic control signage and began sawcutting pavement and driveways in preparation for removal. Next week they will begin removing the pavement and driveways on Phase 1 (TH 13 to Luther Place). Underground utility replacement is anticipated to begin on July 5th.
July 5, 2017 – The contractor has been removing the concrete pavement and driveway aprons. Work planned for this week involves finish removing the concrete pavement and driveway aprons, setup temporary water service along the boulevard, and start installing the sanitary sewer.
July 21, 2017 – The concrete pavement and driveway aprons have been removed, temporary water service has been set up, and sanitary sewer has been installed from TH 13 to mid-block of Luther Place and Hillside Avenue.
July 31, 2017 – The contractor plans to continue installing watermain starting at the TH13 intersection and head east. They will also work on installing sanitary sewer and water services.
August 7, 2017 – Last week the contractor worked on replacement of watermain in phase 1 (TH13 to Luther Place). Provided all the testing passes, the contractor will make the connections to the existing water distribution system and begin replacing the water services this week.
August 11, 2017 – This week the sanitary sewer, watermain, and services were installed form TH13 to Luther Place.
August 21, 2017 – Underground utilities have been installed and residents have been taken off of temporary water. Excavation, roadway shaping, and construction of roadway base is scheduled for this week.
